A leak in the winter, a swimming pool owner’s nightmare. While walking in the back yard while temperatures are well below freezing, the horrid noise of sloshing water beneath your feet. Your above ground pool has sprung a leak. What can be done? In the case of an above ground, really not much until the spring thaw.

As for an inground, there are only two choices. Wait until spring and hope for the best or cut a hole in the ice and have a diver go in and try to find the leak. It is possible to find leaks as I had owned a pool company and that was one of the services we provided. Those odds of a repair are 50/50.

The swimming pool you see in the picture belongs to a friend of mine and has now experienced the mid winter misfortune of a leak. We will be coming back to this project in the spring to bring his pool back to life.
