That Ugly Scum Line On My Hot Tub

That ugly scum line that builds up around the water level on spa is nothing less than disgusting in which I am sure we all agree. What is it from you ask?

The scum line is from body oils and excessive use of an anti foam product to remove unwanted bubbles that look more like suds while you are trying to relax.

In a previous article, I discussed water balance. This topic is also in relation to it bust specifically zeroing in on calcium hardness. The hardness of the water will determine on how easy bubbles are created and willingness to remain a bubble.

For those whom use test strips, I am afraid to say the readings you get are not accurate. I also suggested in a previous article a Taylor Test Kit. I chose this kit because of its accuracy. It may cost more in the beginning but the results are nothing less than satisfactory.

By raising the calcium hardness to approximately 200 parts per million, will not only help prevent bubbles but drastically reduce the requirement of antifoam products and eliminate the scum problem. You can’t loose. You will also fine more of a shine to the water making it appeasing to the eye.

Seeing is believing. You do not have to do a fresh refill for this but it is suggested for better results.
