Make Turnip Peeling Easy For Thanks Giving
One chore I find to be brutal while getting ready for Thanksgiving day is getting turnip ready to cook. Wax covered and difficult to peel due to a hard skin, there must be an easy way to get this job done.
Actually there is. If the wax is removed and the skin softer, cutting the turnip is a breeze. There is a microwave in almost every home these days, which will make our job a breeze.
Take two paper towels and fold them over twice together. This will soak up the wax as it melts and prevent a mess and unnecessary cleanup. Place the paper towels in the microwave were the turnip will sit and place one turnip on the paper towel at a time.
Cook on high for no longer than 5 minutes. The wax runs right off and the skin softens for easy removal. This process also makes the rest of the cutting requirements a breeze.
Have fun and hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.

Microwave, I never thought of that for removing the wax. GREAT idea.
I run my cucumbers thro the washing machine, before making pickles. and on occassion when I have a large amount of muddy potatoes to wash I do it the same way – Cold water NO SOAP, rinse out the machine first and before doing the next load of laundry.
thanks so much
